On Thursday 5th May 2016, Londoners will go to the polls to elect their new Mayor of London and their London Assembly Members.
You will have three ballot papers:
- One for London Mayor, where you are permitted to put a first and second preference;
- One for your London Assembly Member, where you cross one box; and
- One for the Party you want to represent London, where you also cross one box.
To find out more about your three ballot papers, go to: https://www.londonelects.org.uk/im-voter/how-vote.
If you are not yet registered to vote, you have until Monday 18th April to do so. It is quick and easy to do online here: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
You will then be sent a polling card with details of your local polling station where you must go to cast your vote, which you can do anytime between 7am - 10pm.
Alternatively, you can apply to vote by post, where a ballot paper will be sent to you with a freepost envelope, or by proxy, where you nominate someone to vote on your behalf. New applications for a postal vote must be returned to Sutton Council by 5pm on Tuesday 19 April, and new applications for a proxy vote by 5pm on Tuesday 26 April. You can download application forms at http://www.aboutmyvote.co.uk/how-do-i-vote.
Remember, your hardworking Conservative candiates are Zac Goldsmith for Mayor of London, Steve O'Connell for your London Assembly Member, and the Conservative Party for the London list vote.
