Transport for London (TfL) are producing a business case for the possibility of increasing travel capacity from Belmont and Sutton stations following an intervention by the Conservative London Assembly Member for Croydon & Sutton, Steve O'Connell.
Steve has been a strong champion in fighting for increased transport capacity for Sutton, alongside Conservative councillors and Paul Scully MP.
After pressing the Mayor of London, he received confirmation that: "TfL continues to look at options for increasing train frequency between Sutton and Belmont stations. Options include a shuttle service between the two stations and, in the longer term, a through service to central London
"As well as being technically feasible, enhancements would need to be shown to deliver value for money for TfL to engage in discussions with potential funders. I will ask TfL to produce a business case for increasing frequency on the route."
Steve will keep track of TfL’s progress in making a business case for increasing the frequency of this route, and hold the Mayor to account as he fights to improve transport links in Sutton.
