New traffic lights at Hackbridge station and existing problems at Butter Hill has meant that the morning commute has become even more of a struggle for motorists travelling in Wallington.
Many residents have been left frustrated by the increasingly slow traffic going in both directions on London Road and have concerns about how this could get worse once the Flenex development is completed.
Councillor Tim Crowley, Leader of Sutton Conservatives, said: "I have approached our local London Assembly Member, Steve O'Connell, to ask Transport for London (TfL) to take a look into the problems with traffic and congestion here in Wallington. We do need proper crossings in Hackbridge after the disastrous 'courtesy crossings' and 'shared space' concept that has left pedestrians and motorists confused, and this will be all the more important as the Felnex development is completed. However, the lights need to be phased correctly and the traffic needs to flow better than it is at the moment to avoid congestion and air pollution."
