The Liberal Democrats on Sutton Council are considering closing one of the most central and major youth centres in Sutton.
The youth centre provides support to young people ages 13 and above, providing excellent services to help young people with issues such as bullying and education. It is also a great place for young people to meet and make new friends.
It is also the home of the Sutton LGBT Youth group, which provides specialist support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender young people in Sutton. It is also a safe place for young LGBT people in Sutton to come and talk openly about their fears or concerns.
The Liberal Democrats are blaming the closure on central government cuts, whilst ignoring the fact that Conservative councillors submitted an alternative budget earlier in the year, which would have saved money through cutting wasteful Lib Dem pet projects, and not targeting essential services like this youth centre.
Volunteers and members of the local youth centre have organised a petition against the closure, and we hope you will sign it and save this important local service.
The petition can be found here.
