Sutton residents have the rare opportunity to enjoy Whitehall Museum in Cheam by candlelight this Friday 30 October.
The doors to the Sutton Council-funded museum open at 5.30pm and visitors will be able to enjoy spooky stories, Halloween craft activities, and a kids’ trail complete with ghoulish treats for those brave enough to complete it until proceedings draw to a close at 9pm.
The evening’s event is free entry, but visitors are encouraged leave a donation if possible to help maintain this important local facility.
Whitehall Museum in Cheam has been a landmark in the area since 1500. Bought for the benefit of residents by the local authority in 1963, the building now enjoys Grade II listed status and hosts a range of activities and exhibitions on a regular basis.
The planned programme of renovations and improvements made possible by the £1.5m HLF bid mean that the museum will be closed for around a month from the end of March 2016 while refurbishments are carried out.
