Secret documents have revealed Lib Dem plans for a huge new school on Mollison Drive, meaning the gridlocked traffic will only get worse.
Sutton Council has been looking for new high school sites for 3 years. Sites were short listed and local residents given time to have their say. But secret documents show that the Lib Dems will ditch that process, announce an enormous new school on Mollison Drive, and ram it through before anyone can object. The site is directly opposite Wilson’s. It was not on the short list so this comes out of the blue.
Wilson’s School has around 1100 students; the huge new school would have nearly 2000 and may need to be 5 storeys high, towering over nearby houses.
Neil Garratt said, “Anyone who’s been along Mollison Drive in the morning knows the problem – it’s gridlock. Which genius thinks you can put nearly 2000 extra students in the same bit of road? It might look fine on a map on someone’s wall in Sutton, but putting a new school there is lunacy. That’s why it was never on the shortlist.
“They want to announce it as a done deal before you have any chance to object. So please sign my petition below to register your objection, before this gets the Lib Dem rubber stamp.”
