Last night, Neil Garratt was elected by residents in Belmont in the by-election as their new Conservative councillor.
The Conservatives held the seat with nearly 47% of the vote.
Neil Garratt, newly elected Conservative councillor for Belmont, said: "I am delighted to have been elected as the new Conservative councillor for Belmont. I look forward to working with fellow Belmont councillors David Hicks and Jane Pascoe, as well as Paul Scully MP, to deliver the improvements for Belmont that residents elected me to work to deliver.
"This includes addressing the junction of Brighton Road with Chiltern Road and Cotsworld Road, delivering better transport links to Belmont and safeguarding the special character of the area against unnecessary development.
"Thank you again to everyone in Belmont, whether they voted for me or not, and I will work hard to repay the trust you have placed in me."
