Transport for London (TfL) have today launched a consultation for a new 'demand responsive' bus service in Sutton.
The new service will allow commuters to use a mobile app to book journeys on a minibus that will stop in 'more convenient locations' in line with the demand of passengers.
The service will run from 6.30am to 9.30pm every day and carry up to 14 people, with “guaranteed” seating, Wi-Fi, USB charging points and “flexible” stops within a certain area.
It is expected that the fare will be slightly higher than an average Oyster Card fare, and the trial period will not be taking Oyster Cards. However, Freedom Passes will still be accepted.
If rolled out then it would be trialled for a year before a decision is made on whether it could work alongside existing transport in the borough.
