In support of Visit My Mosque Day, Sutton Conservatives visited Wentworth Hall Mosque in Carshalton today. Paul Scully MP, Councillors Tim Crowley, Elliot Colburn, Jed Dwight, Catherine Gray, Lily Bande and Neil Garratt, our candidate for the Wallington North by-election, Charlotte Leonard, attended over the weekend.
Visit My Mosque day is a national initiative facilitated by the Muslim Council of Britain encouraging 250+ mosques across the UK to hold open days to welcome in their neighbours from all faiths and none and build bridges across communities.
Wentworth Hall is run by the Muslim Cultural and Welfare Association of Sutton (MCWAS) and we were delighted to have the chance to discuss with them what they do in the local community, find out more about Islam and even observe live prayer.
We want to thank them for their warm welcome, and we would encourage people to come along to next year's Visit My Mosque Day to find out more.
